One More From Venice

The canals and photo opportunities are endless in Venice.  This one grabbed my attention because of the red flowers.  You know they say, if it's red, you must shoot it.

Tuscany Poppies

On our recent trip to Italy, we spent 3 wonderful days in Tuscany.  One of the things I wanted to photograph were the beautiful red poppies.  Unfortunately, the picture above shows the only field of poppies we saw.  We came to learn that we were about 2 to 3 weeks early for the height of the poppy season.  Oh well, it was still very nice in Tuscany.

The Canadian Rockies

After ignoring my photo blog for several months, I have found a little time to process a few pics from my August trip to the Canadian Rockies. The one I will share today is from one of the many glacier fed rivers in Banff National Park.  If I don't get side-tracked I will post some more over the next few days.  As always, your comments are welcome.  Thanks.

A Different Take

Here's a slightly different composition from the same scene from the previous blog post.  What do you think?  Which one do you like the best?

Soft Reflections

Again at the beautiful Magnolia Gardens, saw these azalea's reflecting in the water creating an interesting pattern.

More from Magnolia Gardens

Another of the many compositions available at Magnolia Gardens.

Magnolia Gardens

Visited Magnolia Gardens in Charleston and found it looking like this.  It was downright gorgeous!  The azalea's were at their peak.

Pink Flower

I recently purchased some extension tubes for my camera so that I could get in a little closer for some macro shots.  This past weekend I went out to the backyard and started experimenting with them.  This is one that I thought was interesting.  This one isn't as magnified as I can get, but I liked the composition.

Sunflower

There's something about sunflowers that makes you want to smile.  I think it is because they look like big "Happy Faces".  This one I spied peeking over the wall from my neighbors yard.

Ice Cream Cone Flower

Went to Sherman Gardens yesterday and saw this unusual looking  flower.  I didn't catch the name of it, but I think it's from Indonesia.  I thought I would have some fun with this photo and mix a little color and B&W.  I think it makes it look like a strawberry ice cream cone

Lily

The lilies in our backyard were blooming a few weeks back, so it gave me a chance to practice some close up photography.  This photo looked OK to me in the color version but when I converted it to black & white using Silver Efex Pro it seemed to show off the flower's detail, simplicity and beauty that much better.

Morning Dew

Here's a colorful shot I took in my backyard last Fall.  I used my 100mm macro set to 1/125 sec at f 3.5.  The wide f-stop really shortened the depth of focus and blurred the background flowers and just let the colors show through.
